Good Morning! Good News/Bad News👀

Good morning everyone! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend and an amazing Monday. I know you’re all probably wondering what this good news bad news is all about, right?

Well, I had to give you all an update and let you know what’s going to be happening in the next month or two. My birthday is coming VERY soon, so I am planning for that💚 I always want an epic birthday to remember but I usually end up just chilling like any other day lol. Hopefully this one brings great memories. I am also in the process of moving into my first apartment😮😬

FINALLY!

I’m SO excited. I guess that could be an epic birthday gift at least.

Now it’s time to start earning and saving extra, and decor/furniture shop of course- Which so far has been my favorite part.

Having my own space will change a lot of things for the better. I plan to get my YouTube account started, start doing audio and spoken word videos, DIY videos and so much more! I just have a lot of ideas and plans being worked on during this time period.

So what does all this mean? Obviously that’s the good news, but what’s the bad?

The bad news is that unfortunately while I’m busy, I won’t be on here blogging much. I’ll still be writing my ideas down so that when I do have time I can make a post without cramming to find a topic. This does not mean that I won’t be posting for the whole month, this only means that instead of 3-4 posts a week you can expect at least 1.

Once we’re all moved in, I want to be sure we have our internet access before posting frequently again, and that we’re all finished with unpacking (worst part lol) I hope you all will understand and respect this time for me.

I also want this post to be interactive just like any other so I must ask a few questions- What was it like moving into your first apartment/house? Was it a stressful process before actually finding one? What was your favorite part about moving?

Until next time, love Lee.

A Writer’s Worst Enemy

Ugh! It’s Friday, I need to post something on my blog but what? I can’t think of a topic…Wait, maybe I can write about…Nah, I already did something like that. Hmmm… maybe- No, that’s not interesting enough nobody will want to read that, I don’t even know where to begin how would I start? WHAT IS GOING ON!? WHY CAN’T I WRITE? I’M SUPPOSED TO BE A WRITER! This is truly a writers worst enemy.

Suddenly, an idea  dawns on me and I know exactly what to do.

What is a writer’s worst enemy? In my opinion, and I’m sure many others would agree, is writer’s block. Yes, we’ve all been there. That moment where this intruder invades our creative minds and tries to take us out. Robbing and blocking our whole thought process and frustrating us so much that we may even question our talent and skills. We end up left with lack of inspiration, perfectionism issues, and doubt. So how do we protect our mind? How do we take out the enemy when he enters? I’ve got a few weapons and ammunition ready to share!

💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣

  • Music- Try listening to some of your favorite songs or get inspired by new music. Write about the lyrics. What do the lyrics mean to you? Can it be interpreted in different ways?
  • Read a book. Read another chapter of a book you’re already reading or start on a new one. You can get inspired by the characters or seeing how the author writes. You can even do a book review.
  • Read other blogs. If you’re not doing this already…You should probably start lol. Seriously.
  • Watch TV. This is one that a few people say avoid, but I think it can be a great help if you don’t get stuck there all day lol. Like a book review, you can also do a movie or show review. Make a list of your favorites. Netflix/Hulu shows to watch? Watch the news, write about something going on.
  • Browse the internet/Social Media. Again, don’t get stuck there all day but there are plenty of ideas you can get from looking online, or even reading statuses. This is something I like to do when I’m in the mood to write poetry or lyrics. Twitter is a great place to read tweets and get inspired just for that lol.
  • Writing prompts- You can find a ton of writing prompts online, ask your readers for some or even come up with your own.
  • Q&As- Ask your readers to leave you questions about yourself, or your blog and answer them.
  • Planning- If you’re already planning and you get writer’s block, try to stop planning for a while and just write when it comes to you naturally. Write when you’re ready to, not because you put yourself on a schedule and feel forced to. If you don’t plan, try it out. You can start by writing a list of things you’d like to write about in future posts.
  • Story Time- Tell a story about a time something interesting happened in your life.
  • Switch your writing environment- Write in a notebook instead of computer or phone. Write in a different room or location. Go to the park. Which brings me to the next…
  • Go out- When I say go out, I don’t mean saying “f*ck this!” and go out to the club lol. Take a drive, go to a few stores, a book store. If you’re into fashion, go window shopping or actually shop to get your inspiration. Write about something new you picked up or saw. If you’re into poetry and music, go to an open mic night.
  • Write about those unsure topics. You know what i’m talking about, the topics you kind of want to get into but not sure if it will do well, if it will be too sensitive of a topic or whatever the case may be.
  • Read inspiring quotes.
  • Talk to yourself. Okay, I know this one sounds crazy but you’d be surprised with what kind of stories or ideas you come up with just saying exactly what comes to your mind, and how you’re feeling.
  • Create fun challenges for yourself and your readers. (Create a post without the word “it.” Create a post using a chosen word of the day) These are just a couple of examples.
  • Try not to worry so much about grammar at first or having a beginning, middle, and end. If you need to, start writing the middle or ending if you already have an idea of how you want that to go, let the rest come naturally.
  • Some people say you don’t overcome writers block by reading articles on how to but I say reading such articles can help more than you think. You get to see all the different tips and try out some you haven’t already. You may even get instantly inspired by a few.
  • Just write- If you do this, I recommend having a separate notebook just for drafts and brainstorming. Especially if you’re quite the perfectionist, I notice that whenever I attempt to “just write” I get more frustrated if it’s not going in the direction I like, and sometimes feel as though I’ve wasted a page so another tip is to use a pencil lol!

Is the enemy still standing? Comment below if you try one of these methods, or have already been doing so. Share some of your own weapons and ammunition with the rest of us! What tips/advice do you have?

Until next time, love Lee.

Art From The Heart: Poetry by Lee💖

My art comes from my heart, it flows out into my surroundings in various ways.

Maybe I draw, maybe I paint,

Maybe I write, or maybe I sing.

The art that comes from my heart can come out as a lot of things.

No art is the same every heart is different.

We can stare at the same painting and interpret different meanings.

We can read the same poem and feel different feelings.

Or hear the same song and reminisce on different memories.

My art comes from my heart, so please don’t judge the way I express myself or the way that I think.

Maybe I find beauty in the naked body. Maybe it’s my way of showing confidence.

Maybe I’m comfortable and happy with my sexuality.

Maybe I find beauty in fashion, Don’t judge my designs or the way that I dress.

Maybe I like myself like this.

I love the way I express myself.

Maybe I find beauty in pain and my art tends to reflect the deeper, sadder things.

What is beautiful to me, may be ugly to you.

What is powerful and meaningful to me may be degrading, meaningless or irrelevant to you.

But I will not stop, change, or be ashamed because my art comes from my heart

And it flows out in various ways.

💖

Thanks for reading! Always remember that we are all unique and what may be art to one, may not be seen as art to another. Things that we enjoy, may not be what everyone else enjoys but it still doesn’t take away the beauty or passion for it. Do what you love and love what you do no matter what others think.✨

Until next time, love Lee.

What is something that your dream house must have?

Hmm, I actually never gave this much thought before until now. I’d have to say my dream house would have to have a library, a recording studio, and something equivalent to a man cave for women lol. I wonder what all I could include there? I might have to do a future blog post on my idea of a “woman’s cave.”

Who is your absolute best friend? Tell me about them

Back in high school I liked to say I had best friends, but now I don’t see it that way. I have a few really good friends and neither is better than the other. I have one good friend who lives near, and a few who live in different states but each of them are available when I need someone to talk to, advice or whatever it may be. They’re very understanding and supportive of the many things I do and that’s all I could ask for.

Would you like to be a mother/father? How many kids would you like to have?

I would love to be a mother when the timing is right and i’d like to have 3 although I have thought about 4. NO MORE THAN 4! LOL.

Are you what you wanted to be when you grew up?

Growing up I changed my mind soo many times on what I wanted to be. At first I wanted to be an actress, then a writer, singer, psychologist, nurse, news reporter. The list goes on! Once I got into horoscopes, reading about the zodiac signs and such I actually saw most if not all of these career choices listed for a Pisces, which I am. I found that to be really interesting. Today, I still want to write, sing, and act but I am currently only writing.

What makes you really angry?

I’d have to say lying and stealing/touching my things without permission are the things that make me most angry. Lying especially because then you have to wonder what else that person has lied about, what else they would do, and how far they will go to cover that lie up. It’s all just too messy.

Well that was fun! Now it’s my turn.

My five questions are:

  1. Have you ever received any other type of awards in your lifetime? If so, what?
  2. What happened in the last dream you had that you can remember?
  3. If you had your own island, what would you name it?
  4. If you had to choose one color to wear every day for the rest of your life, what color would it be and why?
  5. What advice would you give to your 16 year old self?

My nominees are:

(♥Each of you are AMAZING and this is in no order♥)

Who What Fab

Just Ruminating

Emily Clare Beauty

Fashion And Style Police

This Darling Adventure

Please check their blogs out if you haven’t already.

So nominees, the time is now yours. In your own post answer my questions and nominate a few other great bloggers with your own questions for them. Looking forward to reading! ♥

Love Lee

Small Splurge💳

Happy Sunday! I hope everyone’s weekend was pleasant and eventful.

I wanted to make a quick post on a couple of things I got for myself while I was out this weekend. I was really excited about the items I picked up so I had to share!

On Saturday, my boyfriend and I stopped by Hobby Lobby. Hobby Lobby is one of my favorite stores. It’s actually a crafting store for those of you who don’t know. I also love Michael’s! Any time I’m in either store my creativity just shines I get so many ideas. This time however, I wasn’t finding much that sparked that creativity or any interests. I was getting frustrated because I didn’t want to leave without anything- but I also didn’t want to get just anything. So I was about to give up, we were about to leave and I walked down the aisle with notebooks and such(a whole different excitement itself) when suddenly I saw this beauty…

I know what you’re thinking. Really, a notebook? What’s so exciting about that? Well to a writer, probably everything! I know I’m not the only writer who has a little obsession over notebooks. I have so many, and any time I go to any store if I see a cute one I HAVE to get it. It’s so motivating, I get so inspired whenever I have a new notebook. But just look at THIS one, it’s perfect.

Do what you love, love what you do.💖

I also like to point out the fact that it’s pink and gold! Yes there’s a few other colors thrown in, and you can’t really tell that the letters are gold because of the flash but it’s still perfect. The letters are the same as the gold pen-which I also had to have! Lol. The notebook also works as a clipboard, I thought that was a nice touch. Another nice touch is that the pages aren’t normal notebook pages. Let me show you what I mean-

Kind of like a sketch book or notepad but so pretty! I can’t wait to show you all what I do with it. If you would like this notebook go ahead and purchase your own at your local hobby lobby or online for $7! They have a few other great choices available and also matching binders and folders- and we can’t forget about the pens! Check out everything in the link below.

I also have a love for candles so I stopped by the dollar store to pick up a couple of cheap ones that are really nice. I love Bath and Body Works, and Yankee brand candles which I also get often but we know those can be a bit expensive especially for a collector. These I got for $5 each.

I know this was a bit random and unplanned but I thought it would make for a good post before I go to bed. I do plan on showing both of my collections in a future post so if you’re interested stay tuned.

Until next time, love Lee.✨

Do you collect anything? If so, what? If not, what did you do this weekend?

Iridescent Dating👀🤔

Iridescent dating? What is that? Doesn’t iridescent mean luminous colors that seem to change when seen from different angles?

It sure does. Iridescent dating is my own play on words. It sounds a lot like interracial dating which is exactly what we’re going to be discussing. Interracial dating is when two people of a different ethnicity come together as a couple. Whether they are just seeing each other, with children, or actually get married, many people view interracial dating in different ways.

This is a poll I ran on twitter just last week. Out of 75 votes, 77% of people said that love is love. Meaning interracial dating is no different from any other type of dating. 7% said that it needs to stop, and the other 16% believes interracial dating is only the result of wanting mixed children. I do believe that SOME people do get with another person of a different race just to produce mixed children, because social media does have a way of making them out to be the “cutest babies” with the light skin, light eyes, and “good hair.” There are people who will say an African American who dates outside of their race is only trying to erase their “blackness.” Sadly, it is sometimes an identity insecurity but this isn’t true for ALL.

I’m actually in an interracial relationship at the moment (bwwm) and we’ve been together almost 2 years now. We’ve even dated in the past back in high school. Before we got back together I was actually with a black man and had that relationship not gone south I’d probably still be with him. Everything happens for a reason and you can’t help who you develop a strong connection with or who you fall in love with, it just happens. Running this poll I had no real expectations but I did predict that the first choice or last would be the majority vote. I was pleased that majority felt the same way, that love is love. We shouldn’t see color, what we should see or love about a person should always be what comes from the inside. Who that person is, who that person wants to be, how that person makes you feel is what should matter. After seeing the results I did wonder if there would be a different outcome if voters were 50 years old or older and honestly, I believe it would be. Slightly or dramatically? I can’t say.

Sometimes when my boyfriend and I go out in public I notice stares. Not many, but maybe 1 or 2 every now and then usually by an older white man, or younger black man. At first, I thought I was the only one to notice and I wouldn’t say anything because I didn’t want to sound crazy or seem like I was just looking for things to point out as a black women with a white man, but my boyfriend eventually noticed too- another older white man. Instead of keeping quiet about it, he made sure to say if he sees another person giving us a dirty look there’s going to be a problem. Of course I was glad to know he’d be willing to stand up for our relationship but I’d always try to avoid any confrontation. I secretly wonder what are going through these people’s minds when they see us together and give us dirty looks, I sometimes even wonder if the looks are only for me, is it my hair because I wear it in its natural state? Is it because my lips and nose are a little bigger, or that my skin is a little darker?

Things aren’t as bad as they were years ago, more people are coming together and seeing that we are all HUMAN regardless of what color you are or where you come from. It doesn’t matter if there are differences, the fact that we are all different in ways gives us a similarity. We have come a LONG way as a country and I feel proud to be a part of that but racism and discrimination is STILL alive today. I try my best to pay it no attention, I’ll continue to ignore the ignorance but it is an issue, it has always been an issue that needs to change.

I know that I’m beautiful, my relationship is beautiful an we’re happy in our iridescent relationship. That’s what matters.

What are your thoughts on interracial dating? Have you ever dated outside of your race? What was that experience like?

Until next time, love Lee.
